Memorex Loft CD Clock Radio - Midnight Black (MC7104-BLK) Review

While the Memorex Loft had some features I desired such as battery backup, duel alarms, and expandable speaker, its drawbacks make it basically unusable as far as I can see.The back light on the display is way too bright even on the dim setting and the number display is very difficult to see even in the best of lighting conditions.Waking up at night and trying to see the display simply blinds you.The control buttons on the front of the unit are too small, and impossible to push without holding the whole unit to keep it from moving.I ended up taking it to work to use for music while I work.It is pretty much useless as a clock radio in the bedroom.

This is the fourth projection weather clock I bought & the only one I am keeping.If you follow the directions, the outside weather comes on & then the inside. Hummer Desktop Clock Review

Ok... so i know the price was cheap but for some reason when i think of the name " Hummer".. i think of quality. I thought maybe the clocks could be made of the scrap metal from the trucks... but alas... oh no... It came in a light little box ... a sweet, almost child-like toy clock made of a plastic.. but at least it was painted silver...I may give it to one of the kids to play with... Dont think i would want to count on this waking me up for my adult mornings...

There are better products out there. I bought this for my son for his birthday. The overall appearance is great. The color matches nicely with his blue nano. When listening to the radio it sounds great. But when listening to the ipod you have to turn it way up to hear anything over the static. If you like listening to your music really loud I guess that that is fine. My son, however, uses it to listen to instrumental music while he sleeps and loud just kind of defeats the purpose.

Sony ICF-CD543RM Kitchen CD Clock Radio (Silver) Review

I tried other radios in the kitchen, but none could compare to the sound of this unit. FM reception's pretty good too. The "kitchen friendly" controls are easy to clean. Mounting is done by drilling three holes, for which it has a paper template, and it has adjustable spacers to accommodate cabinets with recessed bottoms. It's about 11-1/2 inches deep and just an inch or two wider.

I don't seem to get any weather band channels, and the TV channels I get are very quiet so I have to remember to turn the sound down before switching to FM or CD. The timer's a nice feature for the kitchen but seconds can't be set and it takes a lot of turning to get to longer bake times, like an hour or more. The magnetic remote's also nice but you have to be able to see the sensor and stay within about 45 degrees for it to work.

Overall I'm very happy with it. The sound is great and makes spending all day around the kitchen less lonely, plus it doesn't take up any counter space. I do feel like I paid a small premium for the name Sony though.

LCD Alarm Clock Review

I like using nap timer/alarm clocks because they are not electric.Also, you can set your own snooze time instead of the automatic times set for most alarm clocks.I have had Timex nap timers that are wonderful; however, I can no longer find them anywhere.I ended up seeing the Elgin nap timer and thought that I would give it a try.What I do like about the nap timer function is that when you set the amount of time you want to nap (I also use it when I do laundry) you can push the nap timer function and see how much time is left.What I don't like about it is the tiny "slide control" of the Snooze, Alarm On and Alarm Off.You need a strong fingernail to manuver it and you can forget about manuvering it with your fingertip. The "slide control" to set the alarm time, calendar or lock the times in place is the same, but their function can be set and left alone, for the most part. Another thing that I particularily did not like was that the shipping cost was 43% of the total cost of the product.That is a bit steep.

This is a fun little device - the perfect size with plenty of features.It fits on my nightstand in place of your typical alarm clock, not taking up any extra room.It easily packs up to go on the road with you.It has custom adapters included for every size of docking iPod, as well as a connector for non-docking iPods.Great sound, great control of sleep vs. wake volumes, and a nice dimming feature with 4 settings to it, so that the light of the clock doesn't keep you awake.And if you forget to dock your iPod, the buzzer alarm will still sound (actually it's a beeping alarm).

If you are a heavy sleeper, or like 90 minutes of sleep music in addition to your wake music, I recommend putting your iPod on shuffle all songs before docking it on this station so that you won't get to the end of your playlist and run out of music.

I only have two complaints about the iHome 2 Go travel alarm clock.One is that my clock seems to gain a few minutes every day, so it ends up being very fast.I reset the time once a week.The other is that I have to remove my iSkin to dock my iPod.I was sure when I bought the skin that it said I wouldn't have to remove it to dock the iPod, but because of how the docking works on this station, I do.

Sony ICF-CD553RM Under Cabinet Kitchen CD Clock Radio (Silver) Review

Pros:
Looks great.
Extremely easy to install.
Functionality is very good.
Sound is very good.

Cons:
The dial/knob is NOT for volume or tuning, which is somewhat counterintuitive. Other than that, no flaws.

Overview:
I installed this radio just a few weeks ago. Install was extremely easy. The included template made drilling the 4 holes an exact science. And the height-adjustable legs made the fit perfect and were very simple to place and adjust, and using these the unit should fit under any cabinet setup.

It does look nice, which is important in a kitchen, and we just remodeled ours, so this looks the part.

Functionality is generally very good. Like I mentioned under weaknesses, the knob is used for the timer, which is not how most radios are set up. But we've already gotten over that. Radio is easy to use, including setting the presets and such. Likewise for the TV and weather stations. I haven't had much trouble with reception, but that will depend entirely on your own situation. The CD player is easy to use as well.

And the unit sounds good. For a small sound system, and one that is mounted under a cabinet, which is not the most acoustically perfect area, is sounds good. And the enhanced "MegaBass" and "MegaExpand" features do help quite a bit. I tend to keep them on all of the time.

All-in-all, I am very pleased with this unit.

Insignia Clock Radio Model NS-C2111 Review

Gained about 30-40 minutes for every hour it ran.Didn't notice at first because I was only around it for short periods.When I was next to it for about 90 minutes I noticed it was way fast.I thought maybe I had set it wrong, but about an hour later I had the same issue.

I bought mine as "Like New, Open Box."Your mileage may vary.It's cheap enough that I didn't want to put in the effort of returning it.But I definitely wouldn't try it again when there are so many OTHER inexpensive products that do exactly the same thing.

JENSEN JCR-262 Sensor Snooze AM/FM Clock Radio Review

You won't have to worry about waking up on time because you'll never get to sleep; the LED display is so bright on low setting that it illuminates the whole room to the point it seems an alien abduction is in progress. All other aspects of this unit are fine, with the exception that you still have to reset the clock after unplugging/power failure, even with a 9V installed. Oregon Scientific RM982A/SL Desktop Atomic Clock with Exactset Review

I purchased this clock to use as a World Time clock with my shortwave radio. It is a useful, accurate little "no-frills" self-setting clock. The alarm can also be nice, although it's not actually loud enough to wake me. The primary display mode conveniently shows you the time (with seconds), the date and the month. While the digits are not illuminated, the large "Snooze" button on top also activates a 5-second back-light.

Unfortunately, the mechanism that sets Zulu time in this clock has not taken into account the recent decision by the U.S. Congress to offset Daylight Saving Time by two weeks. Evidently, this clock computes the UCT time by extrapolating from the local time zone offset, instead of the opposite. This means that you'll have to adjust your offset by one hour for those two weeks between the time that the U.S. used to change their clocks and the time that they change them now.

I bought this clock because I sorted on best avg customer review.I don't know why the high reviews - the shortcomings of the clock are in the reviews. Setting via the atomic clock did not work at all (one of the other reviews noted the same but said its ok because they set the clock 5 minutes ahead).As another reviewer noted - the clock drifted - yup.Another wrote the alarm was not loud.I think that summed up my experience; the clock does not set, its not accurate, and the alarm is not good. I bought it to be a self setting accurate alarm clock that would wake me up.I will add a new comment, the clock looks like it is straight out of the Jetsons, and its big, that might be attractive to you, but to me it was scary.I am glad Amazon has a great return policy.

Little Tikes Table Lamp Alarm Clock/radio Review

My 7-year old loves this lamp he got when he was 6.It is easier for him to turn on and off than a traditional light switch, and he loves the alarm clock that he can set himself, as well as the radio with the sleep timer.This was an incredible deal.

Sony iPod Clock Dock - White (ICFC1IPWHITE) Review

UPDATE: Sony has updated this clock radio with a new model - the ICF-C1PMK2 - which has even better AM reception, a brighter display, and official iPhone compatibility.

Several weeks ago, I upgraded to a new 160GB iPod Classic. At the same time, I bought an XtremeMac Luna clock radio, which had good reviews. Unfortunately, I found that the Luna is incompatible with the new iPods - it cannot wake them from deep sleep to play the alarm in the morning. A call to XtremeMac got nothing more than a note that my issue had been forwarded to their technical team.

Without any reviews, I took a chance, and ordered the Sony ICF-C1iP iPod clock radio, and am I glad I did! The Sony is fully compatible with my iPod Classic, and Sony includes instructions for using the iPhone as well. And, the sound quality and radio performance is remarkably better than the Luna or other iPod clock radios I've tested.

Sony has done a great job with the ICF-C1iP. It is an upright design, with most of the unit behind the iPod, in a slanted design with controls at the top. The iPod dock accepts universal adapters, but they aren't really needed as Sony has an adjustable supporting plate behind the iPod.

Unlike the Luna, which attempts to duplicate the iPod menus on its display, the Sony ICF-C1iP includes a remote control that lets you completely control the iPod menus as if you were manipulating the scroll wheel. Quite impressive.

Sound quality is very good for a clock radio - with full bass and even midtones. Sony includes a simulated mode they call "Mega XPand" that in my experience made the music sound muddied and under-sampled. Your mileage my vary.

The blue-backlit clock is located in the iPod dock area, and 3 brightness levels are available. In my experience, even the lowest setting is a bit too bright, but not enough to disturb me at night. I wish that the display were slightly larger, although the high contrast lets me see the time without my glasses from a reasonable distance.

And, unlike most iPod clock radios, the radio reception is outstanding - with an external AM antenna provided. The unit has dual alarms, which can be set to iPod (you can even select a wakeup volume), Radio, or Buzzer.

On the downside, the battery backup for the buzzer alarm and clock is a small expensive lithium battery. And, if your relying on just the buzzer to wake you up it's not very loud. You also have to be careful when changing the alarms to make sure that you don't accidentally turn the alarm off. But all of these are minor issues. However, these are all very minor issues that don't detract from the unit overall.

All in all, in my experience, this is the best iPod clock radio you can buy.

HoMedics SoundSpa AM/FM Clock Radio Review

Unless you can sleep with bright lights, don't care about the correct time, and are not picky about the sound quality, I would NOT recommend this product. I contacted customer service because of the projection time showing differently than the main screen time and they were pretty prompt to reply but they said that it was a problem with MY electric! Who ever heard of that? They said that I would just have to unplug it whenever that happens and then plug it back in and reset the current time and alarm time. I've had this for about 6 months and I've had to reset it about 12 times. Quite ridiculous considering the amount that this product costs.

Pros:
Makes a good night light if you're someone who needs a brightly lit room.
I like that the numbers are blue instead of the normal red.

Cons:
Screen is too bright
Nature sounds sound unnatural (for example the waterfall sounds more like white noise.)
Nature sounds sound like a broken record (they are just a few seconds long and just play over and over again.)
Projection clock usually shows random numbers
Freezes up a lot where you have to unplug it to reset it.
Radio quality isn't that great.

Overall I would NOT recommend this product. I'm kicking myself for not taking this back to the store I bought it from while I still could. I thought HoMedics was a good brand but now I don't think I will ever purchase anything from them again.

The weather around here has gotten colder, and out of curiosity I've always wanted to know how cold it was outside at any given moment.It helps especially when I'm getting dressed so I know how much I have to bundle (in the winter).

I got the TE242 as a gift.After looking at the picture on the packaging, the device is deceptively larger than I would imagine.With nothing to compare it to, I imagined it to be very compact and small.It'slarger, about the height and thickness of a paperback book.The styling is nice, and the readout is decently-sized and very legible.

The device shows the outside temperature, the inside temperature, the time, and the date.It comes with a smaller remote temperature probe about the size of an altoids tin that you put outside.I hung mine up by the outside door.It receives this signal wirelessly, and also syncs the time up with the US atomic clock for accurate time.I had to set the timezone on mine (press mode until the date abbreviation is next to the time, hold up till the timezone changes).

The only problem I've had is that the unit sometimes loses the signal from the remote temp sensor, which means the outside temperature is blank.Holding up for a few seconds makes the unit search and find the signal again.A minor inconvenience, but annoying.However, it may have been due to interference since I haven't had any signal loss since moving.The remote temp sensor may have a channel selector that would help, I haven't looked at it in a while.

The main Honeywell site is hard to navigate, but finally I found the site for these devices: [...]I was able to find the manual there.

I do wish it had a humidity feature and that it didn't lose signal, but overall I'm pleased with the device.I might shop around next time, but I like this one.

Sony ICF-C763 Dream Machine AM/FM Clock Radio with Digital Tuner Review

This radio is groovy and round with a nice white-on-black LCD display. But the digital tuner is average, there are no separate weekday / weekend alarms and no battery backup. Why does it cost four times as much as other clock radios? Why did I buy it? At least with the flip-top lid closed there's no annoying field of little buttons to accidently poke at night...
