iHome iH26B Portable Travel Alarm Clock for iPod (Black) Review

iHome iH26B Portable Travel Alarm Clock for iPodThis is a fun little device - the perfect size with plenty of features. It fits on my nightstand in place of your typical alarm clock, not taking up any extra room.It easily packs up to go on the road with you.It has custom adapters included for every size of docking iPod, as well as a connector for non-docking iPods.Great sound, great control of sleep vs. wake volumes, and a nice dimming feature with 4 settings to it, so that the light of the clock doesn't keep you awake. And if you forget to dock your iPod, the buzzer alarm will still sound (actually it's a beeping alarm).

If you are a heavy sleeper, or like 90 minutes of sleep music in addition to your wake music, I recommend putting your iPod on shuffle all songs before docking it on this station so that you won't get to the end of your playlist and run out of music.

I only have two complaints about the iHome 2 Go travel alarm clock. One is that my clock seems to gain a few minutes every day, so it ends up being very fast.I reset the time once a week. The other is that I have to remove my iSkin to dock my iPod.I was sure when I bought the skin that it said I wouldn't have to remove it to dock the iPod, but because of how the docking works on this station, I do.

Product Description:
The iHome iH26B Portable Travel Alarm Clock for iPod and iPod Shuffle (Black) is the perfect portable alarm clock for when you are on the go with your iPod and iPod shuffle. This unit comes with a carrying case with a handle to protect both itself and your iPods during your travels, and lets you not only listen to the music on your iPods, but fall asleep and wake up to it as well.
The iHome iH26B lets you listen to your music while charging your iPod and iPod shuffle simultaneously by docking them in the portable alarm clock station. The alarm clock station features a portable, low-profile design that can easily go anywhere you do, and an auxiliary line-in jack with a patch cord for hooking up other MP3 players or audio devices. The sleep timer function is programmable for a 90, 60, 30, or 15-minute countdown, and even features an adjustable sleep volume that lets you select a comfortable sleep volume level without affecting the wake-to or listening volume levels. The iHome iH26B uses two stereo neodymium micro driver speakers to provide clear sound across all volume levels. Not only are the alarm and time settings easy to adjust, but has a travel lock feature that maintains your settings so that the time is automatically set as soon as you plug it in, and keeps the unit from accidentally powering on in order to save battery life. The iH26B has a multifunctional LCD display with an adjustable white backlight, and is settable to both 12 and 24-hour operating modes. This alarm clock includes extra convenience features such as the ability to store your shuffle's USB cap while your iPod is docked, and a sure-alarm battery backup (battery included) that maintains your clock settings and ensures the alarm wake-up time in case of a power failure. This unit is powered by the included AC power adapter in order to recharge you iPod, or can run on four AA batteries (not included) for portability, and includes inserts that let it work with all iPod models, including the Nano. The iH26B comes in a sleek, contemporary black finish that matches your iPod, measures 8.22 x 5.9 x 1.65 inches (W x H x D), and is backed by a manufacturer's limited 90-day warranty.

Sony iPod Clock Dock - White (ICFC1IPWHITE) Review

Sony iPod Clock Dock - White (ICFC1IPWHITE)UPDATE: Sony has updated this clock radio with a new model - the ICF-C1PMK2 - which has even better AM reception, a brighter display, and official iPhone compatibility.

Several weeks ago, I upgraded to a new 160GB iPod Classic. At the same time, I bought an XtremeMac Luna clock radio, which had good reviews. Unfortunately, I found that the Luna is incompatible with the new iPods - it cannot wake them from deep sleep to play the alarm in the morning. A call to XtremeMac got nothing more than a note that my issue had been forwarded to their technical team.

Without any reviews, I took a chance, and ordered the Sony ICF-C1iP iPod clock radio, and am I glad I did! The Sony is fully compatible with my iPod Classic, and Sony includes instructions for using the iPhone as well. And, the sound quality and radio performance is remarkably better than the Luna or other iPod clock radios I've tested.

Sony has done a great job with the ICF-C1iP. It is an upright design, with most of the unit behind the iPod, in a slanted design with controls at the top. The iPod dock accepts universal adapters, but they aren't really needed as Sony has an adjustable supporting plate behind the iPod.

Unlike the Luna, which attempts to duplicate the iPod menus on its display, the Sony ICF-C1iP includes a remote control that lets you completely control the iPod menus as if you were manipulating the scroll wheel. Quite impressive.

Sound quality is very good for a clock radio - with full bass and even midtones. Sony includes a simulated mode they call "Mega XPand" that in my experience made the music sound muddied and under-sampled. Your mileage my vary.

The blue-backlit clock is located in the iPod dock area, and 3 brightness levels are available. In my experience, even the lowest setting is a bit too bright, but not enough to disturb me at night. I wish that the display were slightly larger, although the high contrast lets me see the time without my glasses from a reasonable distance.

And, unlike most iPod clock radios, the radio reception is outstanding - with an external AM antenna provided. The unit has dual alarms, which can be set to iPod (you can even select a wakeup volume), Radio, or Buzzer.

On the downside, the battery backup for the buzzer alarm and clock is a small expensive lithium battery. And, if your relying on just the buzzer to wake you up it's not very loud. You also have to be careful when changing the alarms to make sure that you don't accidentally turn the alarm off. But all of these are minor issues. However, these are all very minor issues that don't detract from the unit overall.

All in all, in my experience, this is the best iPod clock radio you can buy.

Product Description:
Designed to work with most iPod models, the ICF-C1iP clock radio accommodates standard iPod adapters, but does not require their use. An adjustable backstop mechanism ensures that the iPod fits snugly and securely to the clock radio's 30-pin connector. An included wireless remote control provides full access to the iPod's menu, as well as to radio tuning and volume functions. Additionally, the unit charges the iPod while it's docked.Sporting a full-function alarm clock, users can wake up or fall asleep to content on their iPod, the radio or a buzzer. When first powered on, the clock will automatically display Eastern Standard Time, which easily can be changed to other time zones as appropriate. The unit also has automatic Daylight Savings Time adjustment, eliminating the need to reset the clock in the spring and the fall. Adjustable brightness control over the LCD display provides easy readability.

Curtis IP215 Alarm Clock Radio/iPod Docking Station Review

Curtis IP215 Alarm Clock Radio/iPod Docking StationI've had this iPod docking station for a couple of years, and it's probably one of the best purchases I've made. I don't know why people buy bargain speakers and expect theatre quality sound, but they do. Don't make that mistake with this unit. It will pump up the volume (exactly what I need!) but this is not a surround sound Dolby THX'ed Wonderdock. It's a clock radio with a place to dock your iPod so that you can play it and charge it at the same time.

I frequently move this between a couple of rooms, and I've dropped it more than once. I've also spilled stuff on it, and it works the same as it did when I took it out of the box the day I bought it. I don't use the clock or alarm, so I can't really comment on how well that functions, but the buttons appear to be pretty straightforward and easy to understand if I wanted to start. I occasionally listen to a local radio station on it, and I have no issues with reception.

There's a place in the bottom for a couple of AAA batteries in case of a power outage, and in the back there are in & out aux outlets, along with a "video out" port. I've never used the ports, but it does appear to be a versatile dock. There's also a switch in the back to turn doiwn the brightness of the clock display. The display is VERY bright at night and could double as a night light. I find the brightness disturbing to my sleep even at the low setting and stuck a label over it since I don't use the clock portion anyway.

The design is very sleek and modern looking, sure to go well with most decor, and it looks nice on a dresser (if you haven't spilled something on it like I have!). For the durability, sound quality, volume output, and apparent multi-functionality, I don't think there's a lot out there that can surpass this iPod dock. It's an excellent little workhorse for someone like me who plays their iPod 24/7, needs the volume output and is a little bit clumsy. I think overall it will please most users.

iMode Dock Clock Radio made for iPod, iPod Video, Nano and Mini (Black) Review

iMode Dock Clock Radio made for iPod, iPod Video, Nano and MiniI purchased this item because it had a red digital readout so that it would not light up the entire bedroom. That was fine but after receiving the unit and trying it out, I discovered that the alarm does not work with the iPod.One must manually operate the iPod as the clock will not communicate with it.If I listen to my iPod before going to sleep then the alarm will go to iPod mode in the morning but it will not turn on the iPod.It is NOT an iPod alarm clock, it is merely an radio alarm clock through which one can play an iPod.

IPod IRise - AM/FM Radio And Alarm Clock Review

IPod IRise - AM/FM Radio And Alarm ClockThis thing has constant hum coming from the speakers, even when connected to an iPod nano. At high volume its poor quality shows well, with plenty of distortion and clipping. Clock and alarm are hard to setup. It doesn't control your iPod sound, which is annoying because you have to press the buttoms in the ipod in a incovenient position when docked.
Not worth the price charged in any way.

iMode Alarm Clock Radio iPod Docking Station (White) Review

iMode Alarm Clock Radio iPod Docking StationMy daughter loves this clock radio. I don't like the fact that it does not charge her Ipod. Charging was a very important part of our decision to buy this product. The information in the ad stated that it was compatible with all IPODS. When we put the Ipod on the clock radio it says the it does not charge this Ipod! That was very frustrating. I called the manufacturer and they told me it doesn't charge the 5th generation Ipod!

Rca Rc59I Clock Radio with Ipod Dock Review

Rca Rc59I Clock Radio with Ipod DockI saw this for sale at a local store, so I thought I would do some digging for information. Unfortunately, there is almost zero. It doesn't say it anywhere online or on the box, but this will indeed charge your iPhone 3G. It's possible that they did not want to pay for licensing. Since it will charge the 3G, it should charge all of the new non-firewire iPods (Nano 5G, etc).

It's nice and compact, but certainly sturdy. Once you take a leaf through the instruction manual, it's very easy to use. Not one of those things I recommend to start pushing buttons feet-first, because you'll probably be woken up at 2:30am by accident.

What else can I say about it? It charges my iPhone, plays pretty well (a 5.1 system this isn't), has an aux-in for a Zune, etc, has dual-alarms with 3-4 different options each. If you're looking for a cheap replacement for your firewire-charging alarm clock, this is a good choice.
