LCD Alarm Clock Review

LCD Alarm ClockI like using nap timer/alarm clocks because they are not electric. Also, you can set your own snooze time instead of the automatic times set for most alarm clocks.I have had Timex nap timers that are wonderful; however, I can no longer find them anywhere.I ended up seeing the Elgin nap timer and thought that I would give it a try. What I do like about the nap timer function is that when you set the amount of time you want to nap (I also use it when I do laundry) you can push the nap timer function and see how much time is left. What I don't like about it is the tiny "slide control" of the Snooze, Alarm On and Alarm Off.You need a strong fingernail to manuver it and you can forget about manuvering it with your fingertip. The "slide control" to set the alarm time, calendar or lock the times in place is the same, but their function can be set and left alone, for the most part. Another thing that I particularily did not like was that the shipping cost was 43% of the total cost of the product. That is a bit steep.

Hummer Automatic Atomic Clock Review

Hummer Automatic Atomic ClockThe multi country feature of this atomic controlled clock was my attraction for buying it as I travel to the UK. Unfortunately the alarm on the clock failed - it was impossible to set it.

I returned it to Amazon for a refund as Amazon had no more in stock.

Equity 40001 LCD Insta-Set Travel Alarm Clock Review

Equity 40001 LCD Insta-Set Travel Alarm ClockWe've had two of these products for the past three years. They perform well, do the job, and for 10 bucks, I think they are a good deal.I've read the other reviews, but our experience with the 40001 alarm has been good--I've carried this with me on travel, and never missed an appointment.

There are detailed instructions at the [...] website--with good batteries and the instructions these clocks do the job well.

Casio Auto Calendar Digital Travel Alarm Clock Review

Casio Auto Calendar Digital Travel Alarm ClockThis clock works well as a battery operated alarm clock. However, Casio really could have thought through the "travel" part better.Although it's light enough, it's too large for a travel clock. And there's no cover for the controls, so my first set of batteries died when something in my bag pressed against the snooze/light button for the whole flight. If you're looking for a battery operated alarm for your nightstand, this is a decent clock. If you really want a travel alarm, look elsewhere (or at least pack the batteries separately).

Equity Skyscan 31420 Travel Atomic Clock Review

Equity Skyscan 31420 Travel Atomic ClockI'm sending this back! The nice bright face, with contrasting yellow background, shown on the image is only a sticker. The actual face is gray and black and is not easy to see, even when lit by pushing the tiny button that you'll never find in the dark. Even worse is if the clock is not near a window, it won't set the time. It also can't be in a concrete building, or about 10 other places according to the directions, for it to work properly. I can't trust that this will work properly wherever I'm staying on my trip.

SharpTech SPC303 LCD Travel Alarm Clock with Folding Metal Case (Champagne) Review

SharpTech SPC303 LCD Travel Alarm Clock with Folding Metal CaseI bought this alarm clock today (April 7, 2007) at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $10.I wish I had seen the reviews first.I bought it because of the product name, small size and variety of options.Unfortunately, I realized it wasn't a great buy when I brought it home...and spent a few hours trying to keep the battery in a certain position so the clock would stay on.The connections appear to be very sensitive and the battery doesn't stay in place.
The clock light is pointless. It's supposed to help you see the time in the dark, but unless you have the clock at a certain angle everything will appear blurry.Actually, the screen is blurry in most positionseven with the light off.
As for the alarm, it's pretty quiet. If you're a sound sleeper or live in a noisy environment, this is not the clock for you. You'll only hear the alarm if you sleep with it under your ear.
A final note on this product: The clock has been on for almost an hour without any problems...but only with the battery cover slightly open.If I close the cover all the way, the clock shuts off.If you want an alarm clock that will last awhile, I suggest buying something else. You get less than you pay for with this model.

Elgin 3400E LCD Alarm Clock Review

Elgin 3400E LCD Alarm ClockI purchased this clock as a replacement for an older Timex travel alarm clock that I lost. While this model functions on a basic level, it is disappointing overall.

As another reviewer mentioned, this clock gains time quickly. After just a couple of days it will be minutes ahead of the actual time. If you only use the clock for weekend trips this probably won't be much of an inconvenience, but for longer trips or regular use at home, this is a bit of a nuisance. I can honestly say that in my entire life I have never had any clock, watch, or other appliance so poor at keeping the correct time.

I have also been disappointed with the quality of the Indiglo backlight on this clock. On my last travel alarm, as well as my Indiglo watch, the Indiglo backlight is bright and makes the characters easy to read in the dark. However, on this clock the Indiglo backlight is feeble by comparison. It's just bright enough to qualify as usable, but if your eyesight isn't great the combination of the weak backlight and the fact that you probably aren't wearing contacts or glasses in the middle of the night may make this clock difficult for you to read.

As far as the user interface is concerned, the time display is very large, but other on-screen items, such as the "alarm on" indicator, are not necessarily obvious by a quick glance at the display. The Indiglo button, as you can see in the picture, is in the middle of the face of the unit. My last travel alarm placed this button on the top of the unit. If you can imagine trying to illuminate your clock in a pitch dark room, you can probably guess which location is more convenient. Fortunately, all the buttons you need to set the clock are easily located on the lower half of the face of the unit. For setting the time/alarm the clock has a pair of up/down buttons that move the time in one (if you press and release) or 15 (if you hold) minute increments. This is particularly useful for making small time adjustments backwards.

Overall I have been very disappointed with this clock. It lacks some of the ease-of-use features I'm used to, and it suffers from poor craftsmanship. It was relatively inexpensive and it hasn't technically broken, but if I could go back in time I would most certainly purchase a different travel alarm.
